Urine culture

Procedure for the collection of a urine sample for a urine culture:

1 Use a sterile container (mandatory) to collect your sample at home. Home sterilization is not recommended as it often necessitates re-testing. This considerably increases waiting time for test results, which in turn delays treatment in the case of infection.

2 Before collecting sample, carefully clean penis or vulva with a clean, damp washcloth without soap.

3 Collect your sample first thing in the morning upon waking. Do not collect your sample during the night. 50 ml is a sufficient quantity.
