Urine culture

1 Obtain a sterile container (sold in pharmacies) to collect your sample at home (Mandatory).

Note: Home sterilization is not recommended. These samples often need to be retaken. This significantly increases the delay in obtaining results to start treatment if an infection is present.

2 Before collection, clean the tip of the penis or the vulvar area with a damp washcloth soaked with very little soap.

3 Collect the sample in the morning upon waking**, not during the night. A collection of 30 to 40 ml is sufficient.

Note: ** Do not collect the first 2 or 3 seconds of the stream (Mid-stream). Use a resealable bag for transport (optional).
